How to Create Vertical Text in Canva

Creating vertical text in Canva can add a unique and striking visual element to your designs, helping your content stand out in a crowded digital space.

Whether you're looking to create eye-catching social media posts, engaging presentations, or captivating posters, adding vertical text can make a powerful impact.

In this blog post, we'll explore the reasons behind using vertical text and provide a step-by-step guide on how to create vertical text in Canva.

Why Use Vertical Text in Canva?

Vertical text offers a fresh and modern approach to design, allowing you to break away from traditional horizontal layouts and capture your audience's attention in a dynamic way.

By utilizing vertical text in your Canva designs, you can create a sense of movement and flow, guiding the viewer's eye in a visually stimulating manner.

Additionally, vertical text is particularly effective for mobile viewing, as it maximizes screen space and ensures that your message remains front and center.

With the growing prevalence of mobile usage, incorporating vertical text in your designs can optimize the visual experience for a wide range of devices, from smartphones to tablets.

How to Create Vertical Text in Canva?

To create a vertical text in Canva, first you need to create an account if you don't already have one.

If you don't have an account, you can either sign up for the Canva free plan that offers basic features. Or join the Canva free trial plan where you get access to premium features for 30 days.

After creating an account in Canva, log in to the Canva Dashboard.

Now, click on Create a design. Here, you would get some popular design suggestions like Doc, Whiteboard, Presentation, Instagram Post, Poster, Facebook Post, and more (see the below screenshot).

You can either select one design from the given suggestion or use the Search as shown in the image to find your design. For example, you search for the designs like YouTube thumbnails, Pinterest Pins, Infographics, Resumes, and more.

Or, you can even select your own custom size given at the bottom (see the above screenshot).

For this tutorial, we will select the design - Facebook Post (Landscape). As I click it, the design will open in the Canva editor where you can make changes to your design using different design elements.

Below image is an example of the Canva Editor. In the middle of the screen, you can see your selected design and on the left you can see different options (templates, elements, text, etc.) to create your designs.
